Position Overview
As a Geospatial Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in managing, processing, and analysing geospatial data to support Mitigrate's mission of reducing climate risks. Working with cross-functional teams, you will develop scalable data pipelines, integrate APIs, and contribute to the company’s remote sensing and geospatial analysis capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Data Pipeline Development
- Design and implement robust pipelines to process large-scale geospatial datasets.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in geospatial data workflows.
Integration and Automation
- Build and maintain APIs for seamless data integration with front-end systems and third-party platforms.
- Implement and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS using Terraform to support geospatial processes.
Collaboration
- Work closely with software engineers, data scientists, and product teams to gather and refine requirements for geospatial projects.
Quality Assurance and Innovation
- Write high-quality, maintainable code, prioritising best practices such as code reviews and testing.
- Stay updated on emerging trends in geospatial engineering, remote sensing, and related fields.
Qualifications
Core Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Geoinformatics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1-2 years of experience in geospatial data engineering or similar roles.
- Proficiency in Python and libraries like Xarray, Geopandas, and rasterio.
- Strong understanding of geospatial data formats and processing techniques.
- Experience managing cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS and Terraform.
Skills and Attributes

- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Bonus Skills
- Experience with AI-based software development.
- Background in developing enterprise software backends.
